Kuhler & Associates, Inc. Opens Office in Modesto, CA
Business in the Stanislaus County Enterprise Zone Can Seek Assistance in Securing Benefits Offered by City and State Hiring Programs.

Modesto, CA--- (Market Wire) ---July 1, 2007----Kuhler & Associates, Inc. the authority on Enterprise Zone and Tax Incentives has announced the opening of their new office in Modesto, CA.

“We have followed the economic progress of the Stanislaus River Valley and the establishment of The Alliance, and their commitment to business which will bring valuable recourses to this community” says Randy Kuhler, President of Kuhler & Associates Inc. “We’re very pleased that the California Enterprise Zone expansion will allow parts of the Stanislaus County including the cities of Modesto, Turlock and Ceres to enjoy significant economic assistance for existing businesses as well as attract new business to the area”.

These benefits came to the Modesto area in late 2005 when the California Department of Housing and Community Development announced the designation of the Stanislaus Enterprise Zone.

The California Enterprise Zone Program encourages the hiring of local residents as well as job seekers who might find employment difficult or go elsewhere, through the use of tax saving credits to the business employer.

The employer benefits can be very substantial:
  • $35,100.00 or more in State Tax Credits for each qualified employee hired.
  • Sales Tax Credit on the purchase of qualified machinery and computer-related equipment.
  • Unused tax credits can be applied to future tax years
  • Up-front expensing of certain depreciable property.

  • Even the existing as well as newly hired employees who work 90% of the time within the Enterprise Zone receive a state tax credit up to $525.00, based upon certain adjusted gross income limitation. Many employees qualify, particularly those who are part-time, have not worked the entire year or are married and are the primary wage earner.

“My administration has worked hard to improve the business climate and help create almost 600,000 new jobs by reforming workers compensation, cutting taxes, passing responsible budgets, vetoing job-killer bills, and increasing the number of Enterprise Zones,” said Gov. Schwarzenegger. “By using incentives like Hiring Credits and Sales Tax Credits, these zones help draw business investment to economically needed areas. Enterprise Zones lead to more jobs, less poverty and long-term economic stability.”

“We have worked closely with Gov. Schwarzenegger and encouraged expanded Enterprise Zones. The new zones in Modesto, Brawley and Barstow are the first zones created since 1998”, says Kuhler. “Our firm has assisted over 35% of the Fortune 1000 to secure these benefits. As with all government-sponsored programs, the regulations can be confusing and the paperwork unclear. Rather than be an expert, our clients desire to engage the experts.”

Clients of the firm vouch for its positive financial impact:
    • “I had heard of the Enterprise Zone but I never thought that we would qualify, or if we did there would be a mountain of paperwork. My doubts were quickly put aside after receiving a big check for the hiring credits that we had previously ignored” –Shelly Camera, VP ASC Hygiene, Inc. dba Swisher

    • “Kuhler and Associates, Inc. have engaged a number of our clients in the discovery and documentation of California Enterprise Zone Incentive Credits. They have been beneficial in identifying and securing these credits” – William Matusich, CPA

    • “The credit we received was “found money”- Paul Chacon, GP Five Star Parking
The Enterprise Zones, when designated, have a 15 year life which allows the full economic impact to be realized and for growth to occur. In the City of San Diego zone expansion was granted in the year 2000. “The expansion of the San Diego Enterprise Zone to National City was key to our decision to expand our business by investing more than $2.5 million into new equipment and facilities by creating 50 new jobs.” said Sam Brown, President and CEO of Knight & Carver, a yacht construction and repair business located on San Diego Bay. “Our business is thriving here and these new incentives will help us improve our facilities and remain a leader in our industry”.
